1st & CC Spagnolo's Ch DRIFTWAY REGAL OAK:"Majestic dog, so pleased to have the opportunity to judge him, much have been written about him, for me he excelled in head, neck and shoulders, spring of rib, super quarters, his movement a joy to watch, today his coat was slightly  on the blow; a temporary thing, that still did not distract from the wonderful dog he is. In my opinion he must rank among the truly great Labradors for his breed type and for good measure he has been a wonderful producer of quality stock also oozing breed quality, to have a chance to see him in the flesh completely filled my eyes, I was pleased to award him the CC and BIS" :-Mrs. J. Charlton (Foxrush, U.K.) May, 2001

"We asked a number of gundog group judges - some of them retriever specialists, some of them from other gundog breeds and some all-rounders from other groups  - to name what they considered the most outstanding retriever they had judged, and to explain why"

"I didn't think that choosing the best retriever that I'd been over would be quite so hard, but it has been a tussle, and in the end I've opted for an Australian dog belonging to G.Spagnolo in NSW, GR CH Driftway Regal Oak. I judged him at the first National Labrador Specialty held in May 2000. The moment he came into the ring, I knew that here was my BIS winner unless there was a superlative bitch out there who could beat him. A yellow dog of medium size with great balance and presence, he was superbly constructed from all angles, not overdone in any area and carrying just the right amount of weight for me - he was also one of the most toned animals I'd been over. Movement was a joy to watch, true coming and going, with great reach and drive on good legs and feet, in good coat that had the correct hard feel to it. My second would've been Mrs. J. Charlton's great yellow labrador bitch, SH CH Croftspa Hazelnut of Foxrush." :- Mrs. Carole Coode (Warrigah, U.K) extracted from DOGWORLD, Retriever Showcase Sept' 17, 2004.
